5/15: Wednesday was perfect. I took off in the morn. The water was glassy, and it soon became sunny. The scenery was huge, grand, and i had it all to myself (no other boats) most of the time.
And i survived 3 "rapids", again arriving at opportune (slack-water) time. There was no white water, the surface deceptively smooth, hence the very numerous whirlpools caught me by suprise. It was not any problem, it just felt really weird being pulled every which way. Only 2 or 3 actually had the classic sucking HOLE in the middle; 1 was small & I bumped thru it, to try it out. Another was, well, larger. I avoided that 1.
After ~6hrs i was beat, there was another rapid ahead and the time was past ideal, & i was at the limit of my pre-planned route, so i picked a little indentation in the coast and settled in. Definitely not a classic anchorage, it's small, rocky, & 50' deep. But it was absolutely still. May it stay that way, this nite.
